A Lifestyle for every Generation

This scene of incomparable natural grandeur draws your breath away and inspires a sense of peace and awe—far more than any picture and words could ever tell—this is Lonesome Valley.

Explore Lonesome Valley

Nestled in the largest box canyon of the Blue Ridge mountains, Lonesome Valley stands alone as an enclave of gentle, ambling acreage just two and a half miles from historic Cashiers, North Carolina.  Passing through the stone wall entrance, you encounter the Jennings family farm of five generations, and before you is the stunning combination of meadow, pond, forest, and sky contrasting with the majestic granite faces of Cow Rock and Laurel Knob.

Lonesome Valley offers a rare combination of in-town convenience and serene solitude. Our community is defined by its open spaces, nature-based amenities, and family focus.

Amenities

“The family stays together more instead of separating to different corners of the house. The biggest decisions of the day may be which hike to go on or which board game to play after dinner.”

— Crimmins Family, Lookout Mountain, TN

Our Story

Lonesome Valley was acquired by E.H Jennings in 1895 as a part of his regional land holdings of over 35,000 acres.  Four generations later, Lonesome Valley is still under the nurturing care and stewardship of the Jennings family.

Recognizing its unique responsibility to preserve and protect this special place, Lonesome Valley abides by the principles of conservation and stewardship. These ethos are revealed in our outdoor recreation and adventure, rich and meaningful relationships, the harmony of homes that complement their natural settings, and seasonal celebrations of life. Life in the Valley is naturally inspired.

Historic Timeline

“Lonesome Valley is a blessing for our family. When we are here, our lives are centered. We unwind and let go of our commitments, schedules, and stress.”
